New Poll Shows 61% Of CA-27 Constituents Disapprove of Rep. Garcia’s Vote To Ban Mifepristone
Washington, D.C. – House Majority Forward released the results of its survey of CA-27 constituents looking at Rep. Mike Garcia’s overall approval rating, his threats to cut veterans benefits, fire teachers, and slash public safety – and his vote to place a nationwide restriction on abortion access by outlawing mifepristone.
The results come after House Majority Forward launched a six-figure direct-mail campaign in CA-27, highlighting how Rep. Mike Garcia was holding our nation hostage and the extreme cuts he was demanding to avoid a government shutdown.
House Majority Forward’s survey saw Rep. Mike Garcia’s approval rating plummet after a mail campaign in CA-27:
- Rep. Mike Garcia’s net approval rating declined by 9% from September to October.
- 68% of Rep. Mike Garcia’s constituents disapprove of him joining House Republicans and threatening to shut down the government in order to cut veterans benefits, fire teachers, and slash public safety spending.
- 61% of CA-27 constituents disapprove of Rep. Mike Garcia’s vote to place a nationwide restriction on abortion access by outlawing mifepristone, an abortion pill, from being sold in retail pharmacies and by mail – including in California.
“The current majority in Congress has no plan to govern for the American people apart from holding the nation hostage in an attempt to pass an unpopular nationwide abortion ban and unprecedented cuts to crucial programs for veterans, public safety, and middle class families in California’s 27th congressional district,” said House Majority Forward Executive Director Abby Curran Horrell. “Californians must tell Rep. Mike Garcia and the current majority to put working families first – not an unpopular extreme agenda.”
