Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s Support for GOP Default Plan Drives Down Approval Rating in NY-04

New polling comes after HMF’s digital and billboard campaign urging House Republicans to reject extreme cuts to Social Security and Medicare
Washington, D.C. – House Majority Forward released the results of its survey of NY-04 constituents, looking at the House Republican default plan and its effect on Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s overall approval rating and approval rating on the economy and Social Security and Medicare.
The results come after House Majority Forward’s February launch of a six-figure digital and billboard campaign in congressional districts across the country, highlighting how House Republicans are helping hold our economy hostage and urging them to reject extreme cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
House Majority Forward’s survey saw Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s approval rating decline after a six-figure digital and billboard campaign in NY-04:
- Rep. Anthony D’Esposito’s approval rating declined by 18% over 5 weeks.
- While D’Esposito had favorable approval ratings on the economy and Social Security and Medicare back in February, he is now underwater by 8% on both metrics.
- Voters in NY-04 are 5% more concerned about cuts to Social Security and Medicare today than they were in February.
“The new majority in Congress has not even hit the four month mark, and their plans to hold the economy hostage in order to destroy Social Security and Medicare is already extremely unpopular in New York’s 4th congressional district,” said House Majority Forward Executive Director Abby Curran Horrell. “Americans don’t negotiate with hostage takers, and they must make their voices loud and clear to Rep. Anthony D’Esposito and the new majority – don’t destroy Social Security and Medicare.”
