New House Majority PAC ad blasts Steve Southerland for forgetting the folks back home

U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland may be “doing fine” in Washington, but he has forgotten about the people in North Florida, says a new ad produced by House Majority PAC.
“Here” is a 30-second spot attacking the Bay County Republican for his votes to shut down the federal government in October 2013, as well as supporting cuts to Medicare and veteran’s mental health benefits.
His actions in Washington have made things more difficult for families in North Florida, the ad says.
Initially costing the HMP nearly $104K, the ad begins September 3 in the Panama City and Tallahassee TV markets.
“North Floridians are becoming fed up with Steve Southerland turning his back on their needs,” said Matt Thornton, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “When he voted to shut down the government, against mental health benefits for veterans, and to cut Medicare benefits, he was doing the bidding of his party in Washington, not looking out for the voters back home.”
“It is easy to see why this is considered one of the races most likely to change hands in November,” Thornton added.
Southerland faces Tallahassee Democrat Gwen Graham in the November 4 general election for Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes the eastern part of the Florida Panhandle, the Big Bend along the Emerald Coast, and both Tallahassee and parts of Panama City.
