House Majority PAC Launches Paid Offensive Against Ann Marie Buerkle for Gutting Medicare
April 21, 2011
Today the House Majority PAC is launching a paid advertising offensive against Representative Ann Marie Buerkle who recently voted to gut Medicare for our seniors to pay for trillions in new budget-busting tax breaks for millionaires and big corporations.
“Representative Ann Marie Buerkle is breaking the trust our country has with its seniors by ending Medicare as we know it, making them pay more for prescriptions drugs, and by forcing them to turn to the private health insurance market,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “House Republicans like Ann Marie Buerkle have no problem asking New York seniors, middle class families and veterans to make sacrifices, yet refuse to do the same for bigcorporations and millionaires who would receive trillions in new tax breaks.”
Below is a transcript of the 60-second radio ad, entitled “Run.”
(SFX: In the background the sound of a woman running, gently huffing and puffing) VO: Ann Marie Buerkle says her favorite hobby is running. But she’s been running way too fast in the wrong direction. Because Buerkle just voted for the Republican budget that raises the share of the tax burden on the middle class. And Buerkle’s plan threatens to end Medicare as we know it. That’s right, end Medicare as we know it. It even increases seniors’ prescription drug costs.
(SFX: Running faster now)
We’re not done yet. Buerkle’s budget cuts taxes by trillions for big corporations and the wealthiest Americans. Congresswoman Buerkle even said,
BUERKLE: “I have a real problem with taxing the rich because they make a certain amount of money.” [source]
Ann Marie Buerkle. She likes to run. But come election time…look out!
(SFX: she runs into some garbage cans that clang in the street)
…she won’t be able to outrun her record.
