House Majority PAC Highlights Trump/Cruz Calamity in California

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Majority PAC released a memo laying out the state-of-play in congressional races across California just over two months ahead of the state’s June 7 top-two primary. In the memo, House Majority PAC Executive Director Alixandria Lapp details the highly detrimental down-ballot effect of Donald Trump’s and Ted Cruz’s presidential campaigns on California’s GOP congressional candidates. The memo is the first in a series this election cycle – spotlighting Democratic opportunities to win in specific states and regions across the country.

“California’s congressional Republicans are inescapably tied to and irreversibly damaged by the toxic race at the top of their ticket,” Lapp writes in the memo. “With Ted Cruz or Donald Trump leading the GOP, California is ripe with opportunities for Democrats to win congressional races in 2016, and House Majority PAC stands ready to play a key role in making that happen.”

House Majority PAC, the leading super PAC for House Democrats, was founded in 2011. During the 2012 election, House Majority PAC spent almost $4 million in California races when Democrats picked up seven congressional seats in the state. The organization also invested over $3 million in California’s congressional races in 2014 when Democrats held every competitive seat in California despite a national Republican wave.
