House Majority PAC, Crossroads Put New TV Ads on Air

The super PAC behind the Democrats’ efforts to retake the House in 2012 is spending six figures on new television ads painting four House Republicans as elitist and supportive of corporate interests over individual interests.
The independent expenditure-only group House Majority PAC is putting up ads starting today that criticize Reps. Sean Duffy (Wis.), Dan Lungren (Calif.), Charles Bass (N.H.) and Bill Johnson (Ohio) for business-friendly policies.
According to a source familiar with the ad buy, it is less than $150,000.
The ads are all titled “Struggling,” an apparent sarcastic reference to a comment Duffy made about his difficulty living on his $174,000 Congressional salary. One of the ads attacks Duffy for that comment, and further criticizes him for listing steak and sushi as his favorite foods.
The House Majority PAC ad against Lungren mocks his self-proclaimed affinity for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and the narrator says, “Thanks to Dan Lungren, peanut butter and jelly may be all we can afford. Dan Lungren, he’s not for us.”

Republican political action committee American Crossroads is airing an ad in the two swing states where President Barack Obama’s bus tour will be traveling this week, North Carolina and Virginia. The ad had previously aired in Florida, Missouri and Florida, and it features President Bill Clinton seemingly contradicting Obama’s tax proposal. The nonpartisanPolitifact took strong issue with the video editing of the former president’s comments, rating the ad “false.”
